Internship Programme - London

The principal of the CVA intern programme is to offer successful applicants a real insight into life as a consultant. Wherever possible, interns are placed on an active case team, and are utilised as junior consultants. Typically, this will involve research, data analysis and collation and preparation of input to specific case modules. Recent placements have, however, also encompassed the management of significant workload in direct client-facing roles - in short, the scope of the work is determined by the aptitude and ability of each candidate. Within the case team environment, interns always have a strong support network around them and so any issues can be addressed immediately, whether related to the use of a specific tool or technique, or a more general 'what should I do in this situation'. In addition, there is an intern manager within the firm to plan and oversee the successful integration of the individual into the CVA environment and to ensure a mutually beneficial ongoing relationship.

Feedback from our interns in recent years has been very positive, with the general sentiment appearing to be that they have a much deeper appreciation of what consulting is really about, and that they have been treated as a real and valued member of the team. It is the intention of the firm to build upon these solid foundations in future years.

We believe that the benefit of this approach for the intern is to provide a meaningful basis to judge the choice of a consulting career, but has the added benefit from a company perspective of allowing the assessment of individual performance in 'real world' situations. In recognition of this, those candidates who show an aptitude for the work and are able to integrate effectively into the case team / client environments will be given preferential terms in any future application for full time employment with CVA after graduation. This entails automatic progress to the final round of interviews for graduate entry into the firm, with the endorsement of experienced team members carrying significant weight in the final selection process.

Logistics

Applications are accepted in January for a start date in the following summer. Typically, placements will last for 8-10 weeks, although individual circumstances can be accommodated for exceptional candidates. Interviews will be held in late January / early February in the London office.
