By Paul-André Rabate Founding and Managing Partner
CVA is celebrating its 20 year anniversary - while this is a time to reflect on what we have achieved, more importantly it is a time to look to the future and what we hope to create for our people, our clients and our communities.
Many stories of start-ups begin in garages or kitchen tables. CVA's tale is set in four very different locations in four countries, basically "camping out" at our clients - at the Tour Montparnasse in Paris, in the Rue Royale in Brussels, in a warehouse in Atlanta and in Lombard Street in London.
From the beginning it was our wish to create such a global firm. A firm based in several countries, continents and cultures, but still connected.
Twenty years on, we are more global and more connected than ever. We operate in more than 30 countries from 16 offices. A third of our 300 consultants are based in Asia Pacific, a third are in Europe and a third in the US.
Our other ambition was to have a creative firm who uses a structured, methodological approach to deliver rigorous results. Twenty years on, and in spite of the strong pressure to standardise and compromise, we remain more committed than ever to bringing our clients this unique dose of creativity and rigour.
At the beginning CVA was made up of individuals who were very different from each other in their experience, cultures and backgrounds. We have exploited this diversity by making sure that the ideas and people have moved freely amongst the CVA family. This has allowed a cross-fertilisation of thinking between industries, countries and people that has been a tremendous asset in attracting both clients and colleagues.
We can proudly claim that we still service some of our original clients from twenty years ago. This is testimony not only to the quality of our work, but the strength of the trust relationship we build with both individuals and the institutions themselves.
While twenty years may seem a long time, it is, in essence, just the end of adolescence and the start of adulthood. CVA with most of its life still ahead of it, is facing the future with renewed vigour and energy. Our ambition is to stay young and passionate about our profession and to cultivate more territories, more practices, and more clients without losing what makes CVA special. We will not sacrifice our dose of global connectedness, rigorous creativity, diversity or the trust relationships we build.
I would personally like to thank all those staff and clients who have been a part of the CVA story over the last twenty years. And I look forward to remaining one big family that recognises the value of its members (both past and present) and the value we can bring to our people, our clients and our communities.
